Sidney Leader Cramer

Sidney Leader Cramer

For many years Chairman of the Fitzroy Park Association.

Our colleague Andrew Behan has kindly carried our some research on this man: Sidney Leadercramer was born on 10 May 1912, the son of Israel Leadercramer, who was a Grocer. The Schools Admission and Discharge Registers show that on 29 January 1917 he was admitted to the Wood Street School, Tower Hamlets, and the the family were living at 29 Hare Street, Bethnal Green, now renamed as Cheshire Street. He left this school to go to the country because of the war and attended the National School, Henley. He was readmitted to Wood Street School with his sibling, Isadore on 7 October 1918, before transferring to their Boys Department on 24 October 1919.

He chose to vary his name to both Sidney Leader Cramer and Sidney Leader-Cramer and as such can be found in various telephone directories and electoral registers. It was as Sidney Leader-Cramer that he married a widow, Julia L Yager (née Looman), in 1957 in Marylebone and they went to live at 'Kenview' Fitzroy Park, Highgate. On 20 July 1972 they formed the Jules and Sidney Leader Cramer Charitable Trust. They remained at 'Kenview' Fitzroy Park and he died on 9 November 1990. Probate was granted and his estate totalled £94,490.
