Sir Frederick Treves

Categories: Medicine

Countries: Switzerland

Born Dorchester. Died Lausanne, Switzerland. Surgeon, famous as physician to the Elephant Man. The Who named it site provides a lot of information, but no picture.

However, our Picture Source, The Dorset Magazine - Dorset Life, not only has images but also confirms that he gained fame firstly as the man who looked after Joseph Merrick, the Elephant Man, but secondly as Royal Surgeon to Edward VII, operating on his appendix and saving his life just two days before the planned date of the King’s coronation.
