Engineer. Born at 19 Barron Street, Woodside, Aberdeen. On moving to London, he was seconded to the Royal Arsenal, Woolwich. Here he was responsible for many innovations, and for mechanising and automating the manufacture of cannon, projectiles and explosives used by the armed forces. Died at St Leonard's-on-Sea.
