Captain Stanley Millick Moore Anderson was born in Indiana, USA.

He joined the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, and served as a Pilot Officer in No.71 Squadron. On 29 September 1942 the squadron, together with the other two Eagle squadrons, was transferred to the US Army Air Forces, becoming the 334th Fighter Squadron of the 4th Fighter Group and he served there with the rank of Captain.

He was killed in action on 15 April 1944 when his Republic P-47 Thunderbolt areoplane, serial number 41-6407 was shot down by a German Focke-Wulf Fw 190 over the North Sea off the coast between Ostend and Blankenberghe, Belgium. As he has no known grave his commemorated on the Memorial at the Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery and Memorial at Henri-Chapelle, Arrondissement de Verviers, Liège, Belgium

He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC), the Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Cluster and the Purple Heart.
