George Rae

Born Aberdeen. An authoritative figure in the Victorian banking community, he co-founded the Association of Country Bankers and was a founder and trustee of the Institute of Bankers. He was a champion of the Pre-Raphaelite school and a friend and patron of Ford Madox Brown and Edward Burne-Jones. Died Claughton, Cheshire.
