National Service Veterans Association

Categories: Armed Forces

The Chairman of this organisation, Mr Homer,  served in the Royal Army Service Corps 1958 - 60. He wants to get plaques in county towns and towns of military importance. There are currently {July 2023} seven such plaques in the UK. Confined to a wheelchair he raised funds with a sponsored plaque-a-thon.

As well as the 2 we have found ourselves, we quickly found a few others online: Bristol, Fareham and Truro. The plaques are not uniform (sorry) either in design or in the words. Though the ones we've seen are consistent in  excluding the women who were conscripted.

The organisation has a rather minimal website but with an animated home page.
