Pierre Cérésole

Engineer and peace activist. Born in Lausanne. He worked in the United States and Japan, returning to Switzerland at the outbreak of WW1. He became a conscientious objector, and was imprisoned because he refused to pay taxes that would be used for the acquisition of arms. After the war he quit his career and devoted his life to peace activism. He co-founded the peace organisation Service Civil International (SCI).
