Reginald Bland Goy

Our colleague Andrew Behan has kindly researched this man: Reginald Bland Goy was born on 3 January 1914, the second son and the third of the five children of Walter Richard Edward Goy and Elizabeth Goy née Bland. His birth was registered in St Pancras and his father was a Coachman who had previously seen service in the army. At the outbreak of World War One, his father rejoined the Royal Field Artillery as a Driver and the family was living at 15 Spencer Road, Dartmouth Park Hill, Kentish Town. Electoral registers from 1935 to 1938 shows him with his mother and elder sister living at 79 Park Hall Road, London, N.2. The 1939 England and Wales Register shows that they had moved to 11 Highgate Avenue, London, N.6. and his occupation was given as an Estate Agents Clerk. In late 1939 he married Daphne Christine Fletcher and the marriage was registered in the St. Pancras area. They had two children, Richard J. Goy, born 1947 and Madelein J. Goy, born 1949. Electoral registers and telephone directories from 1946 to 1955 showed them living at 11 Highgate Avenue, London, N.6. and the 1952 telephone directory shows an entry for Reginald B. Goy, Estate Agents and Valuers, at 557 Watford Way, London, N.W.7. Electoral registers and telephone directories from 1956 show that they had moved to 1A Talbot Road, London, N.6. He died, aged 63 years, on 4 February 1977 and was cremated on 11 February 1977 in Islington. Probate was subsequently granted and his estate totalled £36,164.
