T. Ransom

Andrew Behan has kindly carried out some research on this man:
Gunner Thomas Ransom. Born in 1894 in Marylebone, London, the son of William Edward and Mary Ann Ransom née Allison. His father was a bricklayer. The 1901 census shows the family living at 27 Newnham Street, Marylebone and they were still there on the 1911 census when Thomas was shown as aged 17 and a grocer’s errand boy. By 1918 the family had moved to 29 Brendon Street, Marylebone. He joined the Royal Field Artillery, service number 211401, and was attached to the 83rd Battery, 11th Brigade when he died, aged 25 years, on 24 October 1919. He was posthumously awarded The British War Medal 1914-1918 and The Victory Medal. He is buried in Grave AA.75 at the Ramleh War Cemetery, Palestine (now called Ramla in Israel).
