Died aged almost five. Andrew Behan has kindly carried out some research on this little boy. William Alfred Hollis was born on 23 June 1912 in Poplar a son of Henry Albert Hollis and Ellen Eliza May Hollis née Hines. His father was a Dock Labourer. On 28 July 1912 he was baptised at St Saviour's Church, Northumbria Street, Poplar and the family is recorded as living at 13 Hill Place Street, Poplar. They moved to 65 Bygrove Street, Poplar. He attended Upper North Street School, Poplar and died here, aged 4 years, just 10 days short of his fifth birthday, on 13 June 1917 as a result of a bomb from a German aeroplane that killed a total of 18 children. He was buried on 20 June 1917 in a mass grave at the East London Cemetery and Crematorium, 260a Grange Road, Plaistow.
